The mission of the Department of Finance and Accounting is to provide quality education in order to prepare qualified professionals with modern knowledge of accounting and taxation, finance, banking and insurance based on the harmonization of the educational process with the use of state-of-the-art information technologies and innovative forms and methods of the educational process to ensure their competitiveness in the labour market and effective interaction with society.
The mission is fulfilled through:
introduction of innovative educational technologies in the teaching process;
the academic staff advanced training;
conduct of scientific and practical seminars with the stakeholders’ involvement;
publishing the textbooks, syllabuses, other teaching materials;
research work and assistance of PhD students;
introduction of innovative technologies in the educational process.
The academic staff of the Department consists of 8 persons: 2 Doctors of Economic Science, 5 PhDs in Economic Science and 1 Senior Lector. Among the academic staff, there are practitioners in the field of financial planning, accounting, banking and insurance
teaching and learning
Academic staff of the Department are professionals who are adaptive to changes in the legislative, educational and economic directions; use innovative pedagogical and modern information technologies in the educational process; constantly work on updating the content, forms and methods of teaching.
The Department on a regular basis conducts trainings on "Financial Literacy" for students of the University and community.
The level of education is enhanced by involving students in research, using the latest tools and teaching methods such as workshops and trainings, business games, brainstorming sessions, team-building activities, modelling of unconventional, conflict and critical situations and etc.

The academic staff of the Department of Finance and Accounting of DSUM carries out active research work within the research theme: "Financial policy of the state in the process of modernization of the financial system and institutions" (head of the program - Doctor of Economics, Assoc. Prof. Diatlova Yu.) (№ DR 0119U103381).
The Department staff are the participants of the project "Center of Third Age Education", the program "Open World" (Rochester, New York, USA), international internship "Innovative approaches in education, public administration, economics and management: strategies for sustainable territorial development ”(Bielsko-Biała, Poland).
