The Department of Public Administration and Governance of Donetsk State University of Management offers the educational programs at Bachelor’s, Master’s and doctoral levels in public administration and governance for organizational and managerial, analytical and research activities in the field of municipal administration, administrative management and public administration.

The Department educates specialists for the National Agency of Ukraine for Civil Service, public authorities and local governance, commercial enterprises, NGOs and other public institutions.

Graduates of the Department hold senior positions at enterprises that are part of Metinvest Holding, Donetsk Regional State Administration, Mariupol City Council, as well as district state administrations, local governments of various cities of Ukraine and in industry.

The staff of the Department brings together educators and researchers with many years of teaching experience, as well as representatives of the business environment and practitioners in the civil service and local government.

The Department maintains cooperation with leading universities in the USA and EU. At local administrations, public institutions, businesses and NGOs our graduates can work, our students can take practicals, and teaching staff can make research and deliver advanced training.

Educating involves the provision of modern practice-oriented knowledge and the use of a project approach in educational activities, which is carried out in the form of traditional and thematic problem lectures, interactive lectures with presentations, round tables, discussions, trainings, situational games, case study, practical training problem questions, seminars, work in small groups, individual lessons, independent work on the basis of recommended literature and information sources.

The educational process at the Department covers a wide range of additional opportunities:

- arranging lectures and meetings with political leaders;
- possibility of internship in government bodies in Ukraine and abroad;
- participation in the annual school of municipal administration;
- access to electronic library resources;
- participation in annual profile scientific and practical conferences;
- publications in international scientific journals;
- participation in international projects;
- learning to use digital resources of e-government
science and research
Scientific research at the Department is carried out within the general departmental scientific topic "Public administration for sustainable territorial development" (№ of state registration 0118U001700).

The Department arranges annually the International Scientific and Practical Conference "Public Administration for Sustainable Development: Challenges and Prospects at the National and Local Levels"

During 2014-2019, the academic staff of the Department published more than 100 scientific papers in professional journals of Ukraine and abroad, among which a number of articles were published in scientific journals included in the scientometric databases Scopus and WoS

The lecturers of the Department trough 2014-2020 took training, research and teaching internships abroad and participated in academic mobility programs at the EU and American universities:

The University of Economics and Humanities (Bielsko-Biala, Poland),
